Emmy Rossum is least to say extremely versatile, it is not for nothing that sehe already started her career at the age of seven, because at that time she was chosen to be a member of the Metroplotian Opera at Lincoln Center Children's Chorus. She got training in stagecraft and the techniques of classical vocalism in order that she would be able to sing in the children's parts in the regular performances of the company. And so in the next five years she acquired roles in 20 different operas, altogether in five different languages. Her career has some great names written down with whom she worked, some of them are: Placido Domingo, Denyce Graves, Angela Gheorghui and Dimitri Hvorostovsky.

Then in '95 she sang in the first opera production by her production house of Tschaikovsky's "Queen of Spades". In '96 she sang in the newest production of "Carmen" and in "A Midsummer Night's Dream". But those aren't the only famous names on her list, she has played in operas each week, some of those: "La Boheme", "Turandot", "Pagliacci", "Hansel and Gretel" and mamy more.

At the age of eleven she already made her television debut as a recurring character on the daytime program " As the World Turns." And then she got some guestroleson the award-winning series "Law and Order" and "The Practice."

She has a fair amount of feeling for language and this was extremely well reflected in her role as the young Audrey Hepburn in the TV movie "Audrey", a much spoken about performance.

In '00 she made her first big screen debut in Songcatcher, with what she won a "Best Debut Performance" award. She has had a supporting role next to Sean Penn, Lawrence Fishburn, Kevin Bacon and Tim Robbins in the Clint Eastwood film "Mystic River".
